Moving to the next phase of our Squirrels plans

Following our hugely successful Squirrels Open Event, we’re moving onto the next phase of our plans and running a four week trial programme. Interested in getting stuck in?

Yesterday, our Scout Group hosted an exciting Squirrels Open Event, and everyone had an absolute blast. The energy and enthusiasm from all our wannabe Squirrels was truly contagious. From hand flower painting to playing with our giant parachute, the afternoon was filled with laughter, creativity, and exploration.

One of the highlights of the event was seeing the joy on the faces of the Squirrels as they dived into various activities. The hand flower painting allowed them to express their creativity in vibrant colors, while decorating cookies sparked their imaginations and delighted their taste buds.

Our giant Jenga and Connect 4 games provided opportunities for friendly competition and teamwork, as the young people worked together to build towering structures and strategise their moves (as well as having a lot of fun knocking everything down and starting again, of course). And of course, it wouldn’t be Scouts if we hadn’t had an outdoor element to our day, as we rounded off the afternoon without a stroll through the commnunity centre’s garden, discovering the wonders of nature and letting their curiosity run wild while we showed our young adventurers how we help look after our eco garden, bug hotel and all the flowers and plants.

But the excitement didn’t end there. Following the event, we had the pleasure of speaking with parents about the possibility of volunteering and becoming part of our Scout community. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to welcome some of them into our volunteering team in the coming weeks, and were grateful for their enthusiasm and support.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that over the next four weeks, we‘ll be hosting a trial run of our Squirrels program to see how the youngest branch of the Scouts family tree might work in Billesley. This trial period will give both the Squirrels and their families a taste of what’s to come, as we explore new activities, build friendships, and embark on exciting adventures together. We’ve welcomed all of our new friends from yesterday’s event into the group as provisional Squirrels, and while we still have a few places left, if your young person would like to join us on the journey, you’ll need to move quickly!

If you’re interested in having your young person join our youngest section, we have a limited number of spaces remaining for our initial cohort, so hurry and add your young person to our waiting list.
