Volunteers like you make Scouts happen

Whatever you do, however you help, makes a massive difference to so many people

Calling all leaders, tea-makers, equipment-checkers, minibus-drivers, event-organisers, and fundraisers!

Every Scout group needs help, and while each group is unique and different in its own way, we're no different in that respect.

Each week, a small group of ordinary people arrive at Holy Cross Community Centre in Billesley and help to empower the young people that are part of our group learn skills, make friends and begin to stand on their own two feet. Each week is different, but the impact those people make is always great.

We always need help from local volunteers and companies to help us help our youth members.

Volunteering is about being part of a team and not taking up too much of your own time - by working together, sharing things like planning and delivery of our programme and events, organising camps, it helps to share the load and ensure that everyone enjoys taking part.

Are you better suited to help as a decision maker, direction setter or an arranger?

Our Group Executive Committee is like the Board of Governors at a school. They're responsible for making sure that every young person gets the best possible experience in the local area, and exist to support the Group Scout Leader and Group Management Team in making Scouting available to the young people of Billesley and the surrounding areas.

As well as keeping an eye on the goovernance of the Group, they also make sure that the Group has enough money, resources and volunteers to deliver the programme effectively and safely. Being part of the Executive Committee is a rewarding and challenging way of supporting Scouting, and we ensure that any person who wishes to take part is given the training and resources they need.

Anyone can be an Executive Committee member and trustee, but people who have experience as part of a management team, legal or finance professions, with good social skills and links with the local business community will really help, as will skills in computing or decision making.
