Being a Scout is more than camping, hiking, climbing and abseiling. We do get up to that quite a bit, but it’s also about making new friends, hanging out with your existing ones, learning new skills, taking on challenges, working as part of a team, doing things well, and giving things a go.

Everyone’s welcome at Billesley Scout Group, regardless of gender, race, religion, background or physical ability. Each week, nearly a hundred people from in and around Billesley come through our doors and work together, having fun, playing games, and learning useful skills to use in the real world.

We challenge each of our young people to push themselves out of their comfort zone, give new things a go, and – if it doesn’t go to plan – to get back up, dust themselves off and try again.

It’s not just about learning how to pitch a tent, build a fire, and tie a few knots either, though we’re pretty good at all of those things. We’re talking about the skills each young person needs for school, college and sixth form, university, job interviews, public speaking, tricky challenges and their big dreams.

We call it skills for life, and we’re here to help them to learn new ones and build on existing ones, all while discovering themselves and finding out what their “thing” is, whether it’s archery, shooting, baking, coding, music, writing or anything in between. 

There's a Scout adventure out there for everyone, and we’re here to help people in and around Billesley find theirs. The greatest thing is that it sounds like fun because it is.
